The drive is ~220 km and takes about 2 hours 45 minutes, using the A2 Hemus motorway to Yablanitsa and then the I-4/I-5 towards the mountains. The last stretch approaches the Shipka Pass, which is why winter transfers use vehicles prepared for snow.
